Laser Eye Surgery Seattle, Washington
DEDICATION
You only have one set of eyes and you should insist on the highest quality and
a safety conscious team that can provide you with the best possible outcome. This
starts with the philosophy of our world renowned surgeon.
"We pledge to offer the safest and highest quality eye care to our patients. As
specialists in surgical eye care, we feel privileged to be entrusted with the
care of our patients' most precious sense. As professionals, we take very seriously
the responsibilities of this task. In fact, prior to my performing refractive surgery
on patients, I decided that it had to be good enough and safe enough for me to have
it performed on my own eyes, which is exactly what I did in 1992, before performing
surgery on patients."-Stephen G. Phillips, M.D.
At SEAL we offer not only high tech instrumentation but also an excellently trained
staff. Our highly trained and knowledgeable staff maintain and, with the help of highly
skilled engineers, upgrade our equipment meticulously.
Dedication also means taking the time to speak to each of our patients
about their needs and fears, telling them honestly about their options, and working with
them to decide to undergo surgery now, wait for a developing technology, or to not have
laser vision correction at all.
We pride ourselves on our consistent approach to outcomes analysis; which means tighter
surgical results. Improving surgical results is a requirement to be one of the leading
surgeons. Another indicator is the respect in which one is held by other colleagues, as
manifested by inclusion in the small group of eye surgeons whose expert opinion is sought
for contribution in the medical literature and in mult-million dollar FDA caliber surgical
research programs. Dr. Phillips is one of a handful of ophthalmic surgeons who have
been asked to contribute to both the cataract and refractive surgery consultation
section in the JCRS. He is one of the few surgeons to have participated in the last
national study of RK as well as the latest developments in FDA research in LASIK.
TECHNOLOGY
Only the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment are used here at SEAL to
ensure your most appropriate approach to laser vision correction.
We will recommend what we feel is the most adequate treatment for each individual patient. Every
patient has a thorough evaluation including a wavefront analysis done of their eyes
prior to discussing surgical options, and every patient undergoes an extremely thorough
eye exam prior to surgery.
This commitment often requires a commitment to participate in formal medical investigations
to study the effectiveness of new treatments. And paradoxically, sometimes it requires
avoiding some new techniques which have not adequately demonstrated their safety and
effectiveness, even if they have been FDA approved and are being heavily marketed by
others. The history of the development of refractive surgery includes many successes,
but also some procedures which had higher than acceptable complication rates. Put
simply, some procedures are best avoided until more experience is available and a
proven track record is established.
When you make the decision to have laser vision correction your focus should be in
line with ours. At SEAL you will find quality care, experienced doctors, the latest
technology and a commitment to you our patient. Together with new technology and
tailoring a procedure specific to you we will plan what we feel is the most appropriate therapy.
