Patient Testimonials
Read what these patients had to say about their experience with LASIK vision correction at Sound Eye and Laser in Seattle , Washington.

The best decision I ever made was to have Lasik eye surgery and have it performed by Dr. Stephen Phillips at Sound Eye and Laser in Seattle. I choose Sound Eye and Laser because of Dr. Phillips’ expertise and experience. I was a near-sighted outdoor enthusiast and was always troubled by needing prescription sunglasses in order to see well when I was doing outdoor activities. These sunglasses were not made for sports so I was relegated to wearing regular sunglasses, which compromised my vision. I decided to go in for an evaluation to find out if I was a Lasik candidate and was told about mono-vision surgery, which I elected to do. I have better than 20/20 vision and it’s been 10 months since my surgery. I received excellent pre-, post- and follow up care by Dr. Phillip Lo and he did whatever was necessary to ensure that I made the right decision and never pressured me. I enjoy perfect vision without the aid of glasses and wonder why I didn’t do it sooner.

Having a LASIK was the most miraculous experience I've ever had as a patient. I noticed my vision improving instantly with every pulse of the laser. Even though I am a physician, I am somewhat squeamish when it comes to my eyes. Dr. Phillips and his staff were very kind and comforting during the procedure. Every aspect of my care, from the pre-operative evaluation, to the surgery, to the post-operative care was competent and professional. I had my LASIK done six years ago and my vision is 20/20 on my own office eye chart in both eyes this morning.

Lasik has made a huge improvement in my life. Swimming and skiing are no longer encumbered by discomfort and all that extra apparatus. I am able to now work my 24 hour shifts, at least without visual discomfort. Also, being a woman with "seismic" concerns, I love feeling I would be much less helpless in an accident or natural disaster.
I chose Dr. Stephen Phillips because of his intelligence, experience and work ethic. I knew his judgment would be cautious and his recommendations conservative. In the event of a complication, I trusted I would receive excellent attention and compassionate care. The process proved to be so smooth that I have almost forgotten my 49 years with glasses.

It took me about 15 years of waiting to be sure that laser eye surgery was a good idea before I did it. I'm a surgeon. If my vision got screwed up, I would be out of work. I heard that many professional baseball players had LASIK which gave me additional confidence. Dr. Phillips did my LASIK surgery on both eyes about 2 years ago, and I've never regretted it. My vision is great. I love the little things like being able to put sunglasses on and off without having to fumble between glasses and prescription sunglasses. No more fogging glasses when skiing. I was back to operating within a week with clear vision. Dr. Phillips did a great job for me.

Thank you Dr. Phillips so much! I am sure you’ll see a lot of friends of mine who wear glasses now. You are a fantastic doctor and person!

I have enjoyed eagle eye vision (20/15 composite) with my LASIK correction since July 2000. Dr. Phillips patient and skilled expertise has exceeded my expectations. I am very grateful for his excellent efforts on my behalf, and would give my qualified recommendation and endorsement to anyone considering this procedure.

My surgery went very well, I could see clearly just 6-7 hours after I went home. Dr. Phillips and the staff were very experienced and helpful and knowledgeable. The paper works (instructions and the consent forms) were clear and easy. I personally and highly recommend LASIK surgery and Dr. Phillips. Its really worth it! Thank you!

I can remember when I was in the 1st grade, the nun would go up the aisle and have us stand up and read. I knew that I could only read for awhile, until the words became fuzzy and all of a sudden I would stumble and the students had the idea that I could not read. I soon made a deal with the girl sitting in front of me, that when I could no longer see, I would tap on her shoulder and she'd stand up and continue reading, in order to save me embarrassment. My parents took me to the eye doctor, to only listen to him saying, well, there is nothing wrong with his eyes, and that he did not want me to have glasses at my young age because my eyes would become reliant on them and my eyes would not strengthen. In the eighth grade my teacher kept me after school to help me learn to blink, in order to lubricate my eyes so I could see and read easier. In high school, a friend of mine had an uncle that was an ophthalmologist. An appointment was made, and at the conclusion, of his examination, he said, "My God, How have you gotten this far without correction?" That was 1968, and ever since, I have dealt with glasses, light sensitivity, poor ability for night driving, contacts, far and near contacts, prescriptions that always compromised clarity, losing my contacts, wearing dirty contacts, running out of solution and all the other problems. In 2004, my Optometrists said that she could no longer do anything for me short of having laser surgery. Months later I received a call from my Doctor, she informed me of a study being conducted by a colleague of hers. I made an appointment with Dr. Stephen Phillips M.D., who gave me a complete patient evaluation leading him to believe that I'd be a candidate for the latest in LASIK technology to correct my vision. The results were instant. When the surgery was over, I sat up and noticed I could read the clock on the wall. I looked down at my watch, and could read the time; let alone the tiny letters and day and date. Never before was I able to read my watch that clear, even with contacts or glasses. I was able to go to work, read the documents, computer, newspapers, and books, all without any contact or glasses. I was able to water ski and see, without fear of loosing a contact. I was able to put on goggles and snorkel for the 1st time under water since I was a kid. My night driving is wonderful; it seems I can drive with more clarity at night. It took me about a month or two to realize that I did not have to allow time to clean my contacts before going to bed. Also, in the morning, I could wake up and not have to reach for my glasses, let alone, no more blind showers in the morning, I can see…
My life has changed so dramatically, in just the small things, it has made life so much more pleasurable. I am able live, see and read like God had planned for us. I thank Dr Phillips, M.D. and his staff for being such a huge factor in the rest of my life…I feel freed up and absolutely, born Again…

Dr. Phillips has been my eye doctor for 18 years. In 1990, I started looking at eye surgery to correct my near sightedness. In May 2001, I decided with Dr. Phillips, to use the latest in LASIK technology to correct my vision. It has been the best decision I've ever made. No more contacts or glasses! From pre-op to post-op, the care at Sound Eye and Laser is first class.

It is with great confidence that I recommend Dr. Phillips and his staff for LASIK surgery. Ever since I was a child in the second grade, I struggled with thick, heavy and unflattering lenses. As an active Mom and North-westerner, it is always an extra hassle with rain drops on my lenses and fogging up while playing sports! Dr. Phillips and his staff took great pains to ensure that I was comfortable and informed before, during and after the procedure. The entire experience went smoothly and the results are great! Finally, I can see clearly like other people without the constant worry of loosing my contacts or needing eye drops and messy solutions. I am thrilled with the outcome and only regret waiting so long to do it.

Dear Stephen Phillips, MD and Staff
It gives me great pleasure to write to you in regards to my eye surgery performed at Sound Eye and Laser. I worked for 30 years in a newspaper, close-up light table, and computer graphics environment. I was frustrated with bobbing my head up and down trying to keep my eyes in focus wearing bi-focal glasses. I was constantly looking for glasses that were misplaced or already on my face.
I was pleased at the manner in which your staff took the time to take my fear of surgery away. They also took the time to explain the procedure of restoring my vision. Some patients received corrected vision on the first day of surgery. I was one not so lucky. My correction was 20/70, much better, but still you and your staff made sure I was stabilized and healed enough for the enhancement surgery 9 months later. Today, I am corrected to a full 20/20 and use a mild correction for reading, just as everyone had told me.
I can now see better than I have since 1970, when I first started wearing glasses. I feel better, look better and have high admiration for you and everyone at Sound Eye and Laser for restoring my vision and the excellent follow up care you have given me.

I couldn't be happier in my decision to have the eye surgery. All of the staff are so supportive and upbeat, and I am getting such good attention even now, 3 months after the surgery!
It is so wonderful to be out playing golf, have a rain storm appear, and not have to mess with glasses. I am amazed each morning when I wake up to 20/20 vision, and I look forward to skiing this winter without the use of contacts or glasses.
Thanks for improving the quality of my life.
I had considered the possibility of laser eye surgery for several years. I began wearing glasses when I was thirteen years old and was in the position to invest in a little self indulgence.
What did, and has continued to impress me the most is Doctor Phillips' focus on my well being. During the screening procedure for the surgery his staff became concerned about my elevated eye pressures.
Doctor Phillips performed tests and diagnosed that I had glaucoma. I have never been a sick person and was trying hard to deal with the challenge. I'll never forget his words: "Wow, here you were shooting for the moon and you got pulled back to earth with this reality. There are lots of treatment options and we'll get this condition under control".
Over the next couple of years he did just that. He never let me totally give up on the possibility of the laser surgery. He never pushed, just encouraged. When he told me that the glaucoma was under control and I was now a good candidate for the surgery (for about the third time) I made the decision to proceed in November 2003. I had total trust and faith in Doctor Phillips. He had earned that from me over the years.
I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and have never regretted my decision. I always removed my glasses for professional photographs and now it's for real!
